Tweed leaders ready for giant leap

A TOTAL of 13 Tweed Shire and Northern Rivers businesses have taken up the Tweed Leaders Leap challenge to abseil down ten stories from the top of the Southern Cross University, Gold Coast Campus, on Friday, February 28.

The leap will take place across two waves with the first group abseiling at 9am and the second at 11.30am.

The Weekly met with several participants for a photoshoot and to promote their fundraising efforts, with all funds going towards the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

For most participants the abseiling challenge will be a first.

“I’ve had some sleepless nights thinking about the ten-storey drop,” TravConsult owner Lilly Choi-Lee said.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, but a little nerve racking as well.”

Among the local leaders includes Vareala & Swift Pharmacy owner and pharmacist Skye Swift, Mrs Choi-Lee, The MBA Parrtnership representatives Julie West and Janelle Mason and Smile Street owner and dentist Dr Ramesh Sivabalan.

Other locals taking part include Tropical Fruit World general manager Aymon Gow, Tweed Police Superintendent Dave Roptell, Northern Co-operative Meat Company, Lismore Marist Brothers – Brandon Williams, RBR Property Consultants, CHG Integrated Wealth – Shaun Costello, LJ Hooker Kingscliff, Westpac Kingscliff and Murwillumbah, and Gold Coast Airport.
