TO CELEBRATE the opening of their new premises CPM (Community Print Makers) will hold an open day on Saturday, November 25, and have invited the community to come along between 11am and 3pm.

The new CPM Print Studio is located in the delightful Tweed Shire village of Stokers Siding at Shop 1, 224 Stokers Rd, opposite the park.

Stokers Siding is easily accessed from the Tweed Valley Way, a short distance south of Murwillumbah.

Ever wondered how etchings, wood and linocuts are made? Here is your opportunity to find
out.

CPM printmakers will be showing how various forms of fine art prints are made and you can
see how you too can easily make your own unique art print.

Food and drink will be available as well as a raffle. Established in 1989 Community Printmakers Murwillumbah Inc or as it is better known CPM is a not for profit group to further the art of fine art printmaking.

For 25 year CPM’s home was in the Community Centre building on Kyogle Road, at Bray
Park.

Unfortunately the old building was lifted off its foundations and shifted during the March
flood event and is now due to be demolished.

The good news is that the NSW Rural Assistance Authority has come to the rescue and
provided funds to lease premises for the next two years.

Fortunately a shop in the lovely historical ‘old Stokers Siding Pottery’ building was available, set in the delightful village of Stokers Siding.

The big move earlier this month saw large etching and relief presses and other equipment transported to their new Stokers Siding home.

Sadly the largest of the etching presses couldn’t fit through the door and is now for sale to
provide funds to replace it with another smaller one.

CPM provides an important facility for newly graduated students from surrounding universities and TAFE colleges as well as the aspiring and passionate printmakers of the region.

The focus is to provide a very affordable and engaging facility for all members of the
community to enjoy.

Experienced and passionate print makers will guide beginners through the basics of
printmaking and workshops are available from time to time.
