AN EXCITING new French patisserie has opened at one of the Imperial Hotel’s store fronts in Murwillumbah, offering a slice heaven in every bite.

Ben’s Patisserie is owned and operated by couple Ben and Stephanie Leonardi who are passionate about their pastries.

Ben, who was born in France, has extensive experience as a patisserie chef and was recently awarded “Best Sweet Biscuit” at the 2016 Sydney Royal Show.

The Weekly recently visited Ben and Stephanie at the patisserie to find out more about their vision for Ben’s Patisserie and sample a few tasty treats.

“We’ve always loved Murwillumbah, the people are so friendly and this is such a beautiful community,” Stephanie said.

“The patisserie is something we’ve always wanted to open and when the opportunity came up at the Imperial Hotel, we jumped at the chance.”

Ben said he continues to develop his pastry skills every year and has plans to travel between France and Murwillumbah to further expand his skills and offer Tweed residents even more delicious bite sized treats.

“My passion is as a pastry chef and while I am mostly self taught, I’m also hoping to expand my skills and offer an even greater variety of flavours,” he said.

Among the delicious range includes lemon meringues, award winning macarons, danishes and a range of pastry with more to come.

The patisserie, which opened on Tuesday, December 20, is also expanding it’s range to suit a wide range of sweet tooths.

The couple are also planning an official opening day on Friday, January 27, the day after Australia Day.

Opening hours Tuesday to Friday 7am-4pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-2pm.
