TWEED POLICE attempted to pull over a black Kawasaki Ninja 250cc on Wommin Bay Road, Kingscliff, at about 1pm on Saturday, October 14.

The motorcycle was traveling in an easterly direction on Wommin Bay Road when Police performed a u-turn behind the accused in an attempt to stop the rider for a random breath test.

“The rider has turned right onto Sand Street and accelerated away,” police said in a media statement.

“At the time, police were approximately 200-metres from the accused attempting to catch up.

“The accused has reached speeds between 80 and 100km per hour in a 50km/hour sign posted residential area of Sand Street.”

Police said the rider has then turned left into Surf Street where he has ridden the bike up onto the front lawn of premises in Surf Street.

It’s alleged the male rider hid the bike behind a parked utility, then ran into the front lawn area of premises in Surf Street where he has removed his jumper and helmet, concealing them in some bushes before hiding along a nearby driveway.

“He then allegedly concealed himself within some bushes just prior to police arriving on the scene,” police said.

“Police have conducted a canvass of the surrounding area and located the accused crouched and hiding in the bushes.

“The accused was arrested and charged with Enter Enclosed lands as well as numerous traffic offences.”

The man was expected to front Tweed Heads Magistrates Court at a later date.
