Kingscliff Police bust organised crime group

A MAN arrested for his involvement in an organised crime group jumped from a third-storey balcony in an attempt to evade police.

The group allegedly stole property from construction sites and unsecured vehicles around Kingscliff.

The man remains in custody and another male and two females have been charged with with property and drug related offences.

Kingscliff Police were called yesterday, Tuesday December 13 to holiday accommodation south of Kingscliff after reports of a stolen motor bike.

While Police were making enquiries at the location, one of the male offenders attempted to evade police by jumping from a third-storey balcony and running away.

After a short foot pursuit the male offender was caught, placed under arrest and conveyed to Tweed Heads Police station.

A second male offender was stopped as he was attempting to leave the area. He was also placed under arrest.

A number of items of property including, computers, tables, phones, generator and compressor were recovered.

Two females at the location were stopped and searched by plainclothes officers and quantities of prohibited drugs were located in their property.

The first male was charged with numerous offences including Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Drugs and motor vehicle theft whilst the motorcycles, a Suzuki and Kawasaki are still outstanding).

He appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court today, Wednesday December 14, where he plead not guilty to all charges. He was refused bail by the court and remanded in custody. He will reappear in Tweed Heads Local Court in the New Year.

The second accused male was charged with a number of property related offences as well as number of Possession of Prohibited Drug Offences. He was granted bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court in the New Year.

The two females were issued Court Attendance Notices and will attend Tweed Heads Local Court on January 9 2017.
