THE MUSTANGS are beginning to find form after they downed Byron Bay at Stan Sercombe Oval on Sunday, June 18, but the big test is this Sunday against Evans Head.

Byron has struggled to find consistent form this season and although bottom of the ladder, the visitors gave the Mustangs a tough first half during a rare period of sunshine in Murwillumbah.

The Mustangs were first to score with a break away run, but Byron’s defence answered back and the scoreboard was levelled by the end of half time at 10 all.

But the Mustangs showed their ability to maintain their form throughout the entire game dominating the second half and eventually downing Byron Bay 32 to 10.

The win is the Mustang’s third in as many weeks following some tough losses earlier in the season.

It places Murwillumbah in seventh place on the NRRRL ladder, with the Cudgen Hornets still performing well in fourth place followed by the Tweed Coast Raiders in fifth.

The Mustangs will play away this Sunday against Evans Head in battle for sixth place and another must win for Murwillumbah.
