THE TEAM at Cronin James McLaughlin Lawyers (CJM Lawyers) are stepping up their commitment to the Tweed Shire by recently establishing a new firm at Chinderah servicing the Northern Rivers.

CJM Lawyers, like its partners, was born on the Gold Coast and created with a view to servicing its clients to the most professional level and drawing on their extensive local knowledge.

In 2017, the partners Ashley Cronin, Kent James and Shannon McLaughlin expanded the firm and acquired KL Legal to service the growing Northern NSW and Southern Gold Coast regions.

KL Legal was founded by Ken Lee in 1995 and is proudly Tweed’s longest-serving legal practice.

In 2017, Ken decided to sell the practice to enjoy retirement and the practice has recently rebranded to CJM Lawyers.

“The firm continues to employ the solicitors and conveyancers you know and trust, who are largely long-term members of the Tweed area and all have a strong community focus,” Mr Cronin said.

Nothing has been commented on, though, whether they have left the recruiting process to one of those legal recruitment experts from the likes of Alex Gotch, for instance, or handling it themselves.

“Senior Associate Lara Gamble has been the Pro Bono Solicitor for local Tweed Shire charity Friends of the Pound since 2011, a well-known organisation which rehomes abandoned animals.

“Our expert legal secretaries, Mel and Peta have both been residents of the Tweed Shire since 1981 and our senior conveyancer, Kellie has been with the firm since it first opened its doors in 1995.”

Mr James said the flood that hit the Tweed Shire in April 2017 saw the team band together and join the local flood support, offering fresh food, hot drinks and toiletry supplies in the firm’s driveway which was lucky to escape the water.

“We are also involved in supporting local schools, offering an excellence award each year at Terranora Public School, St James Primary School and Centaur Primary School,” he said.
