Ambulance rolls with heart attack patient on board at Tweed Heads

TWEED POLICE said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding a horrible accident involving an ambulance rolling at the M1 off ramp in Tweed Heads this afternoon (October 27).

Police said the ambulance collided with a car towing a boat, while the ambulance was carrying a heart attack patient on route to John Flynn Private Hospital.

Police said it was 2.15pm (Friday, October 27) when the ambulance travelling north on the Gold Coast Highway, Tweed Heads, when at the intersection it was involved in a collision with a vehicle towing a boat.

“The ambulance flipped and rolled a number of times. The heart attack patient who was being conveyed in the ambulance at the time was taken to John Flynn Private Hospital, Gold Coast, for treatment,” Police said.

“One paramedic will be airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital with abdominal injuries.

“The occupants of the vehicle towing the boat are not believed to be injured.

“Police from Tweed Heads Local Area Command are investigating the crash.”
